Case [edit | edit source]. History: About years ago, wealthy residents of old Los Angeles apparently buried their riches for safe-keeping from the Mexican.

    The U.S. census of the Elysian Park neighborhood counted 2, residents in its square miles, which includes all the city park land as well as Dodger Stadium—an average of 1, people per square mile, one of the lowest population densities in Los Angeles county. In the city estimated that the population had increased to 2, The USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) publishes a set of the most commonly used topographic maps of the U.S. called US Topo that are separated into rectangular quadrants that are printed at "x29" or larger. Elysian Park is covered by the Los Angeles, CA US Topo Map quadrant.

    Like many of the city's earliest recreational tracts, Los Angeles carved Elysian Park out of municipal lands that defied development. A Jewish cemetery and a rock-quarrying enterprise were among the few early, documented uses of the land, but the area's deep ravines and steep hills rendered the park's original acres too rugged for. YERKES, T. McCuLLOH, J. E.'SCHOELLHAMER, and. VEDDER ABSTRACT The present-day Los Angeles basin is a northwest-trending alluviated lowlnnd plain about 50 miles long and 20 miles wide. This is a report on the general geology of the Elysian Park-Silver lake district; a six square mile tract of hilly country lying just north of the city of Los Angeles.

The rock units present are granitio bedrock of Jurassic(?) age, sediments of Tertiary age and Quaternary alluvium. The bedrock is a granodiorite; the Tertiary beds which are divided into the Topanga of middle Miocene and Modelo.
